Morey Senior Music Outreach Concert

The School of Music at Central Michigan University is pleased to announce that the 12th annual Morey Senior Music Outreach Concert—one of the year’s most eagerly anticipated events by audience and performers alike—will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. in Staples Family Concert Hall.

Each year, senior citizens and their loved ones from around Central Michigan gather at the School of Music for this free one-hour musicale by CMU Students. Chamber musicians, vocal soloists, instrumental soloists, vocal ensembles, and more perform compositions from a wide range of genres (such as jazz, classical, opera). Refreshments and entertainment follow the concert in the beautiful School of Music Lobby.

The afternoon’s activities are made possible with the generous support of the Morey FoundationThis concert is free and open to the public.

Morey Senior Music Outreach History

The foundation has supported the university’s outreach efforts since 2005 when, after attending CMU’s Opus program, Lon Morey, then CEO of Morbark Inc. and now president of the Morey Foundation, came away highly impressed with the professionalism of the music program.

Mr. Morey then determined to further connect the university to the community. With his generous donation, Morey along with the School of Music began a series of high-quality concerts for area seniors and their families to enjoy.

The Morey Foundation gift has also enabled CMU to provide assisted living residents transportation to the event, as well as access to events throughout the year.
