The faculty, students and staff of the College of Communication and Fine Arts believe that the arts and communication are fundamental to the health, well-being, and advancement of society. Embracing the power of communication in all its forms, we believe that effective communication practices are key to the development and maintenance of strong personal, public, and political relationships, while the arts awaken, refine, and transform our understanding of our humanity (Dana Giola, 2008).* We advance this purpose through the research we conduct and the concerts, recitals, plays, broadcasts, film festivals, art exhibits, lectures, audio/visual recordings, and print and online publications we produce.
Courses within the College of Communication and Fine Arts encourage students to think critically and creatively, skills that employers identify as key to successful careers. In our undergraduate and graduate programs, we provide opportunities for our students to realize their potential through a mix of theoretical and practical experiences, enabling them-- our future communicators-- to enter the job market prepared for a successful career in the 21st century.
