T. Jann Caison-Sorey, MD is the current medical director: PPO and Care Management Programs for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM). Dr. Caison-Sorey is a graduate of Winston Salem State University, received her MD from the University of New York at Buffalo and completed her residency training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University (Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center), Bronx, N.Y. Dr. Caison-Sorey received her MSA (Health Care concentration) from Central Michigan University and her MBA from Lawrence Technological University. Prior to working for BCBSM she worked for Henry Ford Health System as the division head, primary care pediatrics and adolescent medicine - Detroit Campus/Urban Region. In 1991, she founded and continues to work with the School Based and Community Health Program: Clinics established in elementary, middle and high schools with community based site located in underserved areas of Detroit. She is also still active in clinical practice through Henry Ford Medical Group.
Dr. Caison-Sorey has
won awards for outstanding service in health care (2012), women of purpose –
health care industry (2009), National “Founder of Adolescent Health Award” from
American Academy of Pediatrics (2008), and leadership recognition award from
the Society for Adolescent Medicine in Denver, Colo. Dr. Caison-Sorey is associated with the Wayne
County Medical Society of Southeastern (2014 president-elect), Henry Ford
Health System, Michigan State Medical Society, Detroit Medical Academy where
she served on the board of directors, and serves as adjunct faculty, Thomas
Francis Jr. School of Public Health Co-instructor: Health Management & Policy 645 Leadership
class at the University of Michigan.
