Thomas J. Masterson, Jr. is the Dean of The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions.
Dr. Masterson started his CMU career as an Assistant Professor in the School of Health Sciences, later becoming an Associate and Full Professor. He assumed the role of Chairperson for the School of Health Sciences in 2004. Throughout his career, Dr. Masterson has served on various committees, task forces, councils, executive boards and in other capacities representing the College of Health Professions, in addition to participating in a variety of professional organizations.
Dr. Masterson holds Bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and History, a Master’s degree in Biological Anthropology, and a Doctoral degree in Biological Anthropology with a minor in Anatomy, all from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He teaches courses in Human Anatomy and Pathophysiology. Throughout his career, Dr. Masterson has taught Gross Human Anatomy for Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant programs at various universities. His research interests include Arthrokinematics, functional morphology and craniofacial growth.
