Dr. Dan Vick joined the CMU faculty in 2019 after spending nine years in executive administration roles with hospitals in Upstate New York and Indiana. Upon graduation from medical school, he was commissioned a Captain in the United States Army and completed a transitional internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, followed by a pathology residency in the military’s National Capital Consortium residency program. After nine years of Army service, Dr. Vick was a partner in a private pathology practice in Syracuse, NY prior to transitioning to hospital administration.
Dr. Vick has been active in national, state, and local professional organizations. From 2009 to 2011 and 2014, he was a member of Congressman Dan Maffei’s Health Care Advisory Committee for New York’s 25th Congressional District. Dr. Vick has also served on the board of directors of various community organizations.
Dr. Vick is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the national honor society of Jesuit colleges and universities. He is a recipient of Central Michigan University’s Outstanding Dissertation Award, the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross for military service, and the AMA Foundation’s “Excellence in Medicine” Leadership Award. His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster and the Army Commendation Medal. In addition to being listed in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, and Who's Who in the East, Dr. Vick has been cited in several editions of Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare. He is the author or co-author of several published peer-reviewed articles on topics including community hospital disaster preparedness, hepatic pathology, and prenatal diagnosis. Dr. Vick is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the Royal Society of Medicine. He was designated a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) by the Certifying Commission in Medical Management in 2011.
Dr. Vick is an amateur musician who has performed as a percussionist with community orchestras and concert bands. He also plays the piano and has previously sung with choirs and choruses in various cities. With an interest in music composition, Dr. Vick has published a Christmas choral work as well as a short piece for orchestra. He is also an award-winning photographer, a collector of antique fountain pens, and enjoys golf and tennis. Dr. Vick and his wife, Anne Marie, have twin daughters, Juliette and Charlotte, who are in college.
