Aerobic Fitness at CMU: The CMU PED program has many of the most popular and exciting classes around. And they are taught by the best instructors the area has to offer. Our instructors hold national certifications and undergo a rigorous selection process. They teach the class in a way that you learn the activity so you can perform it outside of the classroom for the rest of your life. Many of them have 10+ years of experience! Committing to an 8 week or 16 week class means you get real instruction, real dedication, and real results. As with all PED classes, you receive credit towards graduation so you can be sure the instruction is top notch. Check class registration for the most current list of classes and times. PED 133: Zumba (1cr): (8 wks) Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba's
choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial
arts, and some Bollywood and belly dance moves. Squats and lunges are also
PED 134: Zumba Fitness: Same as above, only 16 weeks.
PED 135: Hustle Dance Fitness: Dance fitness class incorporating hip hop music to improve
and maintain cardiovascular fitness. Course will include core and variations of
Hustle Dance Fitness movements.
PED 136: Aerobic Kickboxing: This course is designed to provide students with an aerobic
workout while learning basic techniques based on various forms of martial arts.
PED 137: Fitness Walking: A course comprised of fitness walking designed for students
who want to begin a program to improve their cardiovascular endurance.
PED 138: Cardio-Variety: A beginning aerobic workout course comprised of conditioning
activities and vigorous nonstop rhythmic movement patterns designed to improve
or maintain cardiovascular endurance.
PED 139: Step Aerobics: A course comprised of step aerobic conditioning activities
and vigorous movement patterns designed to improve or maintain cardiovascular
PED 140: Turbo Kick: Interval training workout with kick boxing moves choreographed to state of the art music intended to focus on development of movement combinations and core strength.
PED 144: Pilates: A course designed to improve total fitness, posture, and
appearance through exercise methods strengthening core postural muscles and
developing body alignment using the Pilates method.
PED 153: Jogging: Students learn fitness principles, proper running technique, and develop running programs while increasing their aerobic fitness levels.
PED 169M: PiYo Strength: Designed to help students build strength and gain flexibility, this course combines the practices of Pilates and yoga for an awesome class that is fun, powerful and full of energy for the entire body.
PED 169N: TurboFire Kickboxing: This class is a combination of kickboxing and plyometric movements choreographed to high energy and motivating music. It is the ultimate cardiovascular challenge.
PED 253: Marathon: Students train to complete a full marathon.
