Research involving the application of speech
science involves the use of experimental phonetic techniques used to measure
patients with various speech and non-speech deficits. We often use instruments
such as diagnostic ultrasound and electropalatography as they can be utilized
to gain biofeedback on tongue position during vocalization and swallowing. We
also utilize various other techniques to assess the nature and severity of
speech disorders and track changes in patient performance secondary to clinical
interventions.
