GUARD YOUR DATA!
  • Files saved on your desktop PC or laptop are not backed up!

  • ​Save important files to the S: drive or U: drive to make sure they are safe. You can access these drives from home or anywhere in the word!
TIPS FOR SAFE COMPUTING
  • Never open attachments unless you trust the source.

  • Never run software from pop-up windows while browsing the web.

  • Never give your password to anyone, including tech staff.

  • Never use the same password for multiple accounts.

  • Always limit the use of personal email, social media, and web browsing while on campus.

  • Always keep your anti-virus software up-to-date. CMU uses Microsoft Forefront virus protection. If your computer is running any other software, contact the HelpDesk.

  • ​Always contact the HelpDesk if you suspect a virus or system breach.
