News Central 34 is a student-run news organization that produces both morning and evening newscasts.  The evening broadcasts air live five nights a week from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. The morning broadcasts air live Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 10:00-10:15 a.m.

In addition to the newscasts airing on digital channel 26.2 on CMU’s campus, the broadcasts also air on Charter Spectrum channel 189 in Mount Pleasant and Charter Spectrum channel 191 on MAC TV Network.  The newscasts are seen in three counties and a dozen communities in mid-Michigan. Furthermore, news division members are heavily involved in producing news content for social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Excellence in Directing award was awarded to News Central 34 for its Morning Show at the Philo Festival of Media Arts.

Josh Bonzheim 1st place in the Student Health competition category.

Zach Huffman 1st place Political Awareness category for News Central 34’s election night coverage.

Prof. Rick Sykes accepted the 1st place award for Best Newscast in the Student Division.
