The College of Communication & Fine Arts has created a partnership with the Traverse City Film Festival, to advance our identified priorities. Perhaps you can make it up that way the last week of July!

We are sponsoring an Open Space movie:  Wayne’s World.  It will show on the evening of July 27 and our logo will be prominent as a sponsor!
Two of our faculty, Eric Limarenko and Aaron Jones, will be teaching a Film School class on Saturday the 30th at 3:00.  “The Basics of DSLR Filmmaking”.

We also have two BCA students who are doing a nine week internship with the festival, Josh Bittick and Makenzie Furber.

Patty Williamson, Associate Professor in BCA, is a long term volunteer at the festival and will be helping to document these events.  I will also be in attendance as time allows, and so will Mark Baczewski.  We all are looking forward to this opportunity to promote what we do here in the college and to seek new relationships.

For information about the festival and the list of films, please see:

And check out our listing as a “Major Sponsor”.  http://www.traversecityfilmfest.org/major-sponsors/

Michigan State University and The University of Michigan are both listed as “Education Partners”.
Perhaps we will move up to that level in the future.  For now, I’m thrilled that we have a presence and that the relationship is well underway!
