The Enrollment Process
Prospective students begin by applying for admission to the university. Here's a step-by-step guide to applying and getting started with financial aid. We recommend applying early (before December, if possible), for the best merit scholarship opportunities.
Admission
Our Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs are competitive, requiring an audition/interview, while other theatre degrees we offer are open to any admitted CMU student. All students will need to
apply for admission to Central Michigan University. Below are additional details.
-
BFA Acting: An audition is required. If you missed our audition days for 2020, please contact us to see if another option is available.
-
BFA Design/Technical Theatre: An interview is required. If you missed our audition days for 2020, please contact us to see if another option is available.
-
BFA Music Theatre: Auditions for the Fall of 2020 have already taken place. Please contact us to look into options for entering a related program and we can schedule an audition for the coming year.

Scholarships
In addition to the CMU academic scholarship offerings available to new students who apply in time for consideration, the Theatre and Dance Department also offers our own scholarships.
-
Special Talent Scholarships: Students auditioning/interviewing for a BFA program are automatically considered for these scholarships, and an audition is also held each year for students in other Theatre and Dance programs.
-
Donor Scholarships: Additional scholarships are provided by individual supporters of CMU Theatre and Dance. These scholarships are reserved for current theatre students who've demonstrated their passion, motivation, and skills through their participation in productions and related activities.
