​Below are helpful tips and information designed to assure your visit to CMU theatre is enjoyable.   

Check your tickets

Please be sure to check the dates and times on your tickets and contact Ticket Central at 989-774-3045 immediately if you need to make changes.


Free parking for University Theatre performances is available in lots 33N and 33S, located off East Campus Drive, in between Preston and Broomfield Streets.  Click here​ or search Google Maps for Bush Theatre in Mt. Pleasant, MI for an online map.  Both theatres are located very near each other in Moore Hall on the CMU main campus.

Start Time – Seating and Ticketing tips

Every effort is made to start plays on time.  Please plan to arrive 20 - 30 minutes early in order to be seated in time.   Seating at all Theatre-on-the-Side (T.O.T.S.) performances is general admission, and sell-outs are common.  Seat selection is first-come, first-served and we strongly recommend early ticket purchase and early arrival.  

Arriving Late - Leaving During a Performance

  • Bush Theatre: The ability to be seated after a performance has started is determined by the production's director.  If allowed, late arriving patrons, and anyone leaving during the performance, will be directed to seats that minimize distraction to performers and other patrons.
  • Theatre-on-the-Side (T.O.T.S.): Due to the intimate nature of T.O.T.S., no one (including anyone leaving during the performance) may enter the theatre after a performance has commenced.

​Meeting the Performers

In many cases our performers greet and mingle with the audience after performances in the hallway in front of T.O.T.S.

Cell Phones and Recording Devices

The use of cell phones, cameras, entertainment or recording devices of any kind is strictly prohibited.  These devices may distract performers or patrons, and they may be confiscated if used during a performance.  Please turn off all such devices prior to entering the theatre.​

Children and Families

Tickets are required for any individual attending a performance, regardless of age. Children under the age of 5 are not admitted unless otherwise advertised.   ​

Individual Responsibility

Patrons are responsible for making informed decisions regarding their purchases.  University Theatre presents a variety of artistic performances and will provide general information about content, language and effects with potential health impact.  Not all performances will be appropriate for every person.  

Group Purchases

Groups of 10+ may purchase tickets at a special group rate.  Large groups or school teachers are asked to contact Jim Hickerson by email at jim.hickerson@cmich.edu or by phone at 989-774-3874.​

Food and drink

For your comfort and safety, food and drinks are not allowed in the theatres.​

Accessible Services

Accessible seating is available for patrons who may require limited stairs, wheel chair spaces, or benefit from other assistive devices.  Hearing assistive devices are available for all performances in Bush Theatre only.  Other accessibility services may be available upon request and with appropriate notice.  Please contact Ticket Central at 989-774-3045 at least two weeks in advance.  (Note: Accessible seats may also be reserved online.)​

Accessible entrances, restrooms and parking

Restrooms are available near both theatres.  Barrier-free parking is available adjacent Moore Hall in lot 33S with powered doors on the south entrances. Entry into Bush Theatre is available on the south side of the theatre.
