The Central Michigan University Art Gallery's mission is to exhibit contemporary art by emerging and established regional, national and international artists for the Central Michigan University and mid-Michigan communities.  It also serves as a laboratory/classroom for students to learn the process and concepts of exhibiting creative work.

The University Art Gallery is a programming arm and primary resource for the Department of Art and Design. The gallery features 12 – 14 exhibitions a year as well as related lectures and films. The schedule includes original in-house curated exhibitions and national traveling exhibitions. The gallery also serves as the primary display space for students and faculty on campus, providing opportunities through annual faculty exhibitions, juried student shows and Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Applied Arts student exhibitions.

The Gallery has 1,890 square feet of display space and 290 running feet of walls in two galleries and is equipped with LED track lighting, multiple computers and a high definition digital projector with a sound system.
