​​CMU students are eligible for work-study assistantships, internships with the potential for course credit, and volunteer opportunities. UAG assistants come from the departments of Art, Art History, and Museum Studies, as well as Marketing/Business, Education, Interior Design and other majors.

Possible work areas include:

  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of exhibits
  • Assist in exhibition research
  • Assist in grant research and grantwriting
  • Design exhibition announcements, calendars and posters
  • Assist in exhibit installation and deinstallation and work with the artists
  • Develop and implement outreach programs with area schools and community groups
  • Provide guided tours of the exhibitions
  • Press Relations: writing press releases, disseminating information for gallery listings in local and regional publications, develop advertising copy
  • Coordinate the dissemination of posters, invites, and announcements on campus and off campus
  • Manage mailing lists, press and general mailing
  • Communicate with different departments about possible shared events (lectures, workshops, performances)
