is a clinical faculty member in CMU's Entrepreneurship Department, and
teaches undergraduate and masters level courses in law, entrepreneurship, and venture development. In
addition to David's teaching duties, David takes an active role in CMU's
New Venture Competition ("NVC") and related Accelerator Program,
helping to mentor student venture teams, and designing some of the
programming related to NVC and the Accelerator. David will also serve as the faculty advisor for CMU's Enactus team, which will be established during the 2019-20 academic year.
David's research interests lie at the intersection of law and entrepreneurship. Currently, David is working on research projects related to: (1) social entrepreneurship (namely with respect to Benefit Corporations); and (2) legal technology tools, and their impact on startups (and entrepreneurial ecosystems as a whole).
Prior to joining CMU, David was an
attorney at Foster Swift Collins & Smith, P.C. in Lansing, Michigan,
where he advised: (1) businesses of all sizes on mergers and
acquisitions, and (2) start-up and emerging entities on the breadth of
legal questions they face.
