To be admitted to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program, you must meet the University requirements for admission to the College of Graduate Studies which includes the following items:

  • Acceptable undergraduate grade point average (G.P.A)
  • Updated resume
  • Statement of purpose*
  • English proficiency test for international students.

You are also encouraged to provide any information that demonstrates your interest in and/or potential for being a successful MBA student and future business leader.

There are no prerequisite courses for admission to the MBA program. However, it is strongly recommended that applicants are familiar with the principles of accounting, finance, economics, and statistics. These principles can be acquired by formal classes, self-study, not-for-credit online courses, or on the job.

You are encouraged to describe how you gained a working knowledge of these principles in your statement of purpose.

*Statement of Purpose is a brief, one-page statement describing your purpose and general plan for obtaining your MBA at Central Michigan University. This statement should include information about your past or present activates and achievements, your future career plans, and any relevant business or volunteer experience that makes you a good candidate for admission. The goal is to share relevant information that is not captured in the other documents you have been asked to submit.
