Summary of Program

The International Teaching Assistant (ITA) Program is available for international graduate students who have received graduate teaching assistantships at Central Michigan University. This intensive one-week course introduces ITAs to higher education in the United States. The course provides in-depth discussion about U.S. classroom expectations and culture, including practice using English language used specifically in teaching and within the disciplines. There are also Q&A panel sessions with current and former ITAs from multiple departments around campus.

Throughout the course, ITAs will practice teaching through microteaching lessons, which provide an opportunity to implement best teaching practices, practice the teaching strategies, and ITAs will use classroom-specific language that you have learned throughout the course.
