Everyone benefits from a wide range of views, and we are all made stronger by a mutual exchange of ideas and resources. The Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity & Inclusion leads CMU in promoting and fostering an inclusive and respectful culture that values and supports diversity. The following units fall under the guidance of the Office for Institutional Diversity that strive to create a diverse university culture:

  • Multicultural Academic Student Services
  • Office of LGBTQ Services
CMU recognizes the diversity among sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression among our community. The purpose of the LGBTQ office is to serve the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals at CMU by providing an inclusive environment for students, staff, faculty, allies, friends, and family. The LGBTQ office accomplishes this commitment through education. LGBTQ Website:   https://www.cmich.edu/office_provost/OID/LGBTQ/Pages/Default.aspx
  • Native American Programs
OfficeThe Native American Programs (NAP) office is responsible for activities related to the Native American community and culture. Activities include: organizing cultural events for the CMU community, maintaining a Native American resource collection, serving as a liaison with tribal communities, and providing support services for any CMU student, but particularly CMU Native Americans students. This office exists in part because of the long standing relationship that CMU has with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.
