The Ph.D. in educational leadership is designed for educational leaders who seek to develop and refine their knowledge and skills to help transform education through practice.
The educational leadership program offers streamlined course options to allow degree completion in 2 ½ years, evening and weekend courses with schedules tailored to the needs of working professionals and multiple perspectives for you to gain enhanced insight in the K-12 and higher education environments.
Research Opportunities and Assistantships
Graduate research assistantships are available through this graduate program. Please
contact the educational leadership department for more details. Graduate students are eligible to apply for professional development funds to attend professional conferences and events. In addition, various opportunities to engage in research projects with faculty are available.
Admission to the educational leadership program requires:
- a completed master’s degree;
- a minimum graduate GPA of 3.5; and
- recent scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).

Progress through the program is based upon obtaining satisfactory grades (a 3.25 overall GPA), passing the Preliminary Progress Assessment (PPA), written and oral comprehensive exams, dissertation concept paper and completing a doctoral dissertation.
The Ph.D. in educational leadership program is accredited through the
Higher Learning Commission.
