Physical Education Major

In your daily life, you regularly utilize human movement. In fact, if your physical abilities are compromised at all, on either a temporary or permanent basis, your dependence on physical movement is readily apparent. Physical educators are concerned with:

  • The health of our nation.
  • Developing motor skills for use in daily life.
  • Contributing to the education of our youth toward the development of an all-around citizen
  • Introducing children to life-long activities.

The Department of Physical Education and Sport offers a major in physical education which leads to certification to teach physical education in kindergarten through 12th grade. There are also several minors available to students including athletic coaching, elementary physical education, secondary physical education, and special physical education.
