A Typical GA at Work in the Classroom
(Click on the pictures to enlarge them.)

Jennifer Lucas began as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Fall 2005. As do all GAs, Jennifer teaches two sections of ENG 101: Freshman Composition.

During their first semester of teaching, GA's teach classes with reduced enrollment.

Despite teaching on MWF, 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., Jennifer is full of energy and enthusiasm! (Not all GAs teach at this time.)

Peer revision workshops are integral to ENG 101, and GAs learn to help students give constructive feedback on their classmates' papers.

GAs are encouraged to supplement their teaching with classroom technologies. They can even learn to teach in a computer lab.
