Degrees and Universities

Dr. Kulawik obtained his doctorate in Spanish American Literature from the University of Florida in 2001, a master's degree in Spanish American Literature from the Instituto Caro y Cuervo, Bogotá, Colombia in 1995 and his undergraduate degree in Hispanic Philology and Iberian Studies from the Uniwersytet Jagiellonski in Cracow, Poland in 1994.

Teaching Career

Professor Kulawik has taught at Central Michigan University since 2001. His primary areas of teaching are Spanish American literature, history and culture, Spanish grammar and composition.

He previously spent some time in France and Spain between 1989-1992, studied in Portugal as Tempus-Erasmus (European Union) Scholarship recipient 1991-1992, studied and worked in Colombia (exchange student scholarship recipient) 1993-1996, studied and worked as teaching assistant of Spanish and Portuguese in Gainesville, Florida

He speaks Polish, English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.

Dr. Kulawik's research interests include Latin American literature: narrative (mainly contemporary) of Spanish Caribbean, Southern Cone and Brazil, identity theory, cultural studies (postmodern theory), discourse analysis.
