Evaluations are temporarily suspended
The D.E.E.R. Center conducts evaluations of the cognitive fitness-to-drive for older drivers, persons with attention disorders due to brain trauma from stroke or head injury or neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s disease, multiple sclerosis, etc.), and young persons with neurological or developmental disorders. We do not provide driver rehabilitation services, or occupational or physical therapy services, for patients who would require an adapted vehicle. Links to facilities that provide these services can be found on our Resources page.
The D.E.E.R. Center evaluation protocol consists of three parts: visual and physical function testing, computer-based cognitive function testing, and simulated driving that is conducted in the AAA Michigan Driving Simulator.
Evaluations are conducted on a fee-for-service basis. The D.E.E.R. Center has a sliding fee schedule based upon financial need. Payment is expected at the time of service.
