Amanda Lopez received her B.A. in Psychology from Albion College in 2006 and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2011. She completed her internship at University Psychiatric Center in Detroit. She previously worked as a psychologist for Community Mental Health providing outpatient therapy to children and families and conducting autism evaluations for young children. She joined Central Michigan University as Director of the PTCC in 2015.
Dr. Lopez's dissertation focused on coping skills and awareness of mental illness in individuals with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder in a forensic psychiatric population. Her current research interests include outcomes of early interventions for young children with autism spectrum disorder, as well as the impact of support groups for children and families experiencing grief after the loss of a loved one.
