The faculty of CMU English strive to produce students who are lifelong readers and learners. The Chippewa River Writing Project is one initiative to enhance youth writing and learning in the Mount Pleasant community. The Wellspring Literary Series not only brings some of Michigan's best and most prominent writers to share their work to students and the public, but also gives students a chance to share their work in an open space.
