What is RecycleMania?
A national recycling initative where colleges and universities compete in friendly competition to promote waste reduction activities in their campus communities. Over an 8 week period every spring, colleges across the United States and Canada report amount of recycling and trash collected each week and are ranked in various categories based on who recycles the most on a per capita basis, as well as which schools have the best recycling rate as a percentage of total waste. For more information, go to the RecycleMania homepage!

How can the CMU community help?
Recycling can be done all over campus. Throughout campus, maroon recycling dumpsters can found. Proper disposal of products in these dumpsters contributes to CMU's goal. In all academic buildings and residence halls, there are rack containers where items such as cardboard, paper, and plastic can all be disposed of. All of CMU's residential restaurants are a zero waste facilities, meaning all of the food waste is composted instead of dumped in a landfill.
This year, CMU's main RecycleMania event will be held at the CMU men's and women's basketball games on February 17th. At these games, CMU students and volunteers will be present to help promote and educate the public about recycling. If you're interested in helping CMU move its RecycleMania rank up, come out to these games and recycle!
Students, Faculty, and Staff can help increase CMU's recycling rate by choosing to recycle and knowing the proper methods of recycling. For a complete list of what can and cannot be recycled on CMU's campus, please visit the CMU recycling page
