Stephen Jones began teaching at CMU in 2006. He received his BA, MA, and PhD from Michigan State University.

Research and Teaching Interests

Dr. Jones’ research and teaching interests include U. S. history and African-American history, with specialized courses in U.S. military history and the industrialization of America. Along with Benjamin Ramirez-shkwegnaabi, Dr. Jones helped launch the Keepers of the Three Fires Oral History Project, a series of interviews with Anishinaabe elders in Michigan and the Great Lakes region.
