Select Your Program

First, make sure you select and apply for the right program!

Note: For more details about the difference between the Master of Arts and the Joint MA/PhD, please see our overview of the Joint Program.

Once you’ve selected your program, follow the appropriate instructions below.

Application Instructions—Master of Arts in History

Two steps—one required, one optional:

  1. (Required) Submit an application to the College of Graduate Studies using CMU’s online application form. Unless you’re an MA student applying for funding (see next), this is all you need to do. The application process is handled entirely through the College of Graduate Studies, which will ask you for an application, your transcripts and the application fee.

  2. (Optional) Highly qualified applicants can find information about MA funding opportunities on the department’s graduate funding page.

Deadlines: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Please see Graduate Funding for funding deadlines.
