The Changing Waters exhibit included the Great Lakes Adventure children's gallery with fun, hands-on activities for children to learn about the Great Lakes. Children could mine for iron ore, play in sand dunes, slide down Niagra Falls, and much more! Children could learn about various species of fish and birds, the many types of rocks and soils that are found in the Great Lakes region, and a lighthouse beacon.

The Museum of Cultural and Natural History's natural history exhibit "Changing Waters: Environmental Research in the Great lakes" opened in April 2015 and closed in May 2018.
