Spanish is the official language in more than 20 countries; it is spoken throughout most of Latin America and, besides Spain, it is also spoken in Equatorial Guinee in Africa.
Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world. The study of Spanish-speaking cultures helps students better understanding the historical and cultural contexts that form part of today's world.
The United States is the world's fourth largest "Spanish-speaking" country with over one person in ten who speaks Spanish as his or her native language.
In fact, in 2011, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated that over 49 million people in the United States were native speakers of Spanish.
Learning Spanish makes yourself a more successful and marketable employee in today's global economy.
