The intent of the performance appraisal is to promote face-to-face conversations between managers and employees throughout the year on a regular basis. In these conversations, the manager seeks out the employee’s point of view, while sharing their own feedback. These discussions should focus on the needs of the employee, and the Performance Appraisal is designed to guide employees and supervisors through a conversation, discussing these needs as well as an assessment of the employee’s duties and responsibilities, objectives for the following year, and an appraisal of the manner in which they perform their duties and meet the objectives.
The Performance Appraisal is designed to align and integrate the mission, vision, and values of the organization with departmental and individual expectations for success. The Performance Appraisal is designed to establish clear goals and objectives for employees and to provide employees with feedback on their performance as it relates to organizational standards for continuous improvement and service excellence.
Linked below you will find a helpful guide to assist you in the navigation of the review process with your Discipline Chair. Faculty should save the evaluation form for completion and email it to their Discipline Chair to start the evaluation cycle. The evaluation cycle begins June 1st each year.
