Mission Statement

Central Michigan University College of Medicine / Medical Education Partners Office of Continuing Medical Education (CMED OCME) is committed to fostering an environment rich in professional development opportunities for physicians, and inter-professional healthcare teams. Through integrating new technologies, identifying and overcoming barriers to change and by providing state-of-the-art health care information and research, we strive to improve physician knowledge, competence, performance and patient outcomes for all populations throughout the State of Michigan.

​Purpose

CMED OCME provides, develops and implements continuing medical education (CME) activities to improve clinician knowledge, competence, professional performance and ultimately patient care and health outcomes for all populations. The types of CME activities engendered emphasize clinical knowledge, research, teaching, administration and leadership.

Content Areas

CME activities address needs of practicing physicians, teaching faculty and the inter-professional healthcare team encompassing: evidence-based medical knowledge, patient care and procedural skills, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, systems-based practice, values and ethics.

Target Audience

CMED OCME serves the physician and inter-professional healthcare teams that comprise the medical communities in mid and northeastern Michigan.

Types of Activities

CMED OCME provides a wide range of educational formats including (but not limited to): medical grand rounds, regularly scheduled series, live courses, seminars, conferences, web-based CME and enduring materials. By incorporating new education technologies, we endeavor to broaden our platform and continually improve our delivery of high quality CME.

Results

CMED OCME programs are designed to promote patient safety and improve patient outcomes across the multi-disciplinary clinical landscape by improving physician and the inter-professional health care team members’ knowledge, competence, strategies and performance.
