The CMU College of Medicine was founded with the mission to answer the growing need in Michigan and the Midwest for quality health care provided by well-trained physicians.
The Citizens Research Council of Michigan recently examined the state’s physician shortage and determined “Michigan has 299 shortage areas and that Michigan’s supply of primary care physicians only met 63.3 percent of need by the covered population.”
Our medical students reflect our mission. Eight-five percent of the first 272 students admitted to the CMU College of Medicine are from Michigan and 76 are from northern and central Michigan.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss the shortage of doctors and how your support of the CMU College of Medicine can make a difference.
