Professor Van Howe received his bachelor of arts in philosophy and chemistry from Saint Olaf College before receiving his Doctor of Medicine from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He completed a pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He has authored over 70 publications and lectured internationally on a variety of pediatric and bioethical topics. He was in private practice for over 25 years before joining the College of Medicine faculty.
