Applying to Medical School
Thank you for your interest in the Central Michigan University College of Medicine. All applicants must submit an application through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) to be considered for admission. The CMU College of Medicine has a rolling admissions policy. It is recommended that you apply early to have the best possible chance of admission. Check your status page regularly to track the progress of your application and to make changes to your application. Our review process may take several months (June through May). Admission decisions are made throughout the process.
All applications are reviewed to determine eligibility for further consideration by the admissions committee.
Secondary Application & Letters of Recommendation
All applicants meeting minimal requirements or with compelling factors making them a potentially strong candidate for admission, will receive an invitation by email to submit the secondary application and three letters of recommendation.
The secondary application and letters of recommendation have been received and your application is considered complete. The admissions committee will review your application holistically. At this stage in the review process your cumulative GPA and MCAT score are not reviewed. The committee will review your personal statement, experiences and activities, secondary application, letters of recommendation, and academic record. This committee will determine which applicants are invited for interviews.
All applicants who are invited for an interview will schedule their own interview via their status page. Applicants must participate in an interview to be considered for admission. The CMU College of Medicine utilizes the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) format for interviews.
Decisions may be made at any point in the admissions process. Students will be notified of their updated status within 14 days of their interview.
