Welcome to CMU College of Medicine Student Organizations
and Special Interest Groups
Getting involved with interest groups is a great way for CMU College of Medicine students to learn more about various careers in medicine, network with faculty, and other College of Medicine students within the campus community. Special interest groups add to the academic and social development of our students experience and we welcome you to be a part of those experiences. The College of Medicine has a diverse variety of different committees, interest groups and community activities for you to consider. Special Interest Groups
This special interest group aims to educate future physicians on the subject of addiction through meetings and events such as film screenings, facilitated discussions and guest presentations.
This special interest group is focused on providing information and resources to those wishing to better understand anesthesia and explore it as a potential career choice.
Business in Medicine
The business in medicine student interest group aims to provide future physicians with the tools necessary to thrive financially. Our goal is to give medical students a comprehensive understanding of personal and small business finance as they relate to the field of medicine. We plan to bring in financial experts, as well as practicing physicians, to discuss topics such as student loans, credit, investments, retirement, and strategies for spending and saving.
The EMSIG hosts a variety of speakers of all specialties that relate to Emergency Medicine to provide the students of the group an in-depth perspective to the field. Additionally, the EMSIG provides hands-on activities that teach students skills necessary for a career in the Emergency Room.
This group is for students who are
interested in family medicine as a medical specialty.
