Team Chippewa Performance
Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Baja is a Collegiate Design Series, which requires teams from universities around the world to engineer, fabricate, and compete in the development of a single passenger of-road vehicle. The SAE Baja Team is a real-world manufacturing project that relies on not only engineering and technology, but also logistics and marketing.
Each team's goal is to design and build a single-seat, all-terrain, sporting vehicle. Along with the build process, each team must make their vehicle reliable, servicable, ergonomic, and economical to produce. This vehicle should be able to be produced at a size of approximately 4000 units per year. The vehicle should aspire to market-leading performance in terms of speed, handling, ride, and ruggedness over various off-road conditions. Each vehicle is judged upon these attributes coupled with a four-hour endurance race.
Chippewa Performance challenges its members to go beyond the classroom by thinking creatively and developing time management, communication, and leadership skills. Our members gain hands-on, real-world experience in the discipline of manufacturing. This gives Chippewa Performance's members a unique experinence that prepares them for work at industry-leading companies.
