Eric Fisher

CMU student-athlete makes NFL history

CMU offensive tackle Eric Fisher was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 National Football League Draft, selected by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Off the field, he spent much of his time in the Engineering and Technology Building. Eric, a mechanical engineering technology major, was highly regarded by his teachers.

"He was an exceptional athlete who worked probably twice as hard as everybody else," says Dru Wilson, associate professor of engineering and technology. "He was prepared to succeed."

Eric joins Joe Staley - selected at No. 28 in 2007 - as the only CMU Chippewa ever picked in the first round of the NFL Draft. With his No. 1 status, Eric is the highest selection in CMU and Mid-American Conference history.

CMU is an AA/EO institution, providing equal opportunity to all persons, including minorities, females, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. | CentralLink
