Combating climate change

The impacts of climate change are something Jason Link, '90, encounters each day as part of his job with the National Fisheries Service within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

As a senior scientist for ecosystem management, Jason is tasked with creating tools and approaches to look at how climate change is affecting marine trust species that are endangered or protected.

"The ocean is responding to the changes in the atmosphere," Jason says. "What that means is these trust species then respond - they either have to grow faster or move to different places, or they can't keep up because it's too hot, so they move toward different poles."

Jason fondly remembers CMU's biology program and his hands-on experiences on Beaver Island - tools and knowledge that he still uses today.

CMU is an AA/EO institution, providing equal opportunity to all persons, including minorities, females, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. | CentralLink
