New Biology Curriculum

Changes to the new undergraduate biology curriculum

  • Our new curriculum has a common set of foundational courses required for all biology majors.
    • BIO 111: Foundations of Evolution and Diversity
    • BIO 112: Foundations of Cell Biology
    • BIO 211: Foundations of Genetics
    • BIO 213: Foundations of Ecology
    • BIO 212: Foundations of Form and Function
  • Courses are to be taken in a prescribed sequence, which will reduce redundancy taught in our current courses.
  • Our foundational courses have more inquiry-based labs, building upon skills recommended by Vision and Change.
  • Concepts of evolution and statistics will be introduced and reinforced throughout the new biology curriculum
