Students explore and experiment with fundamental ideas and applications in computer-equipped classrooms. Computing facilities include Mac, Linux and Windows workstation labs. The labs have hardware and software for multimedia, software engineering, web design, computer networking and database development.

CANAL: Central Advanced Network Architecture Laboratory (Pearce Hall 101)

Central Advanced Network Architecture Laboratory (CANAL) is a student-staffed laboratory designed to provide a working, hands-on place where students enrolled in networking, information technology and business classes can practice and engage with the technology that they learn about.

  • 30 Dell T1650 workstations with Intel i7 processors @ 3.4 GHz, 8.0 GB RAM and 500 GB hard drives
  • 30 Dell Optiplex GX620 workstations with Pentium Dual Core processors @ 2.0 GHz, 1.0 GB RAM and 80 GB hard drives
  • 30 Cisco 2901 routers
  • 6 Cisco 1841 routers
  • 21 Cisco 2950 switches
  • 15 Cisco 3750 switches


Database Lab (Pearce Hall 400)

This lab is used for database and software engineering. The lab is available to the CMU community when classes are not in session.
