Labs and Equipment

Students explore and experiment with fundamental ideas and application in computer-equipped classrooms.  Computing facilities include Mac, Linux and Windows workstation labs. The labs have hardware and software for multimedia, software engineering, web design, computer networking and databases.

Staff in Pearce Hall 421 can provided help for the computer labs Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. If a staff member is unavailable please contact the Help Desk at (989)-774-3662.


Lab Hours

Monday thru Friday 6:00 am – 10:00 pm

Throughout the day labs are used as classrooms. Teaching schedules are posted outside of each lab door.

Saturday 9:00 am – 7:00 pm

Sunday Noon – 5:00 pm

Throughout the spring 2015 semester, the Graduate Assistants will be available in Pearce 424 for tutoring.  The Graduate Assistants are available M-F 5:00 – 10:00 pm; Saturday 9:00 am – 7:00 pm; and Sunday Noon-5:00 pm

The labs will be closed during spring break, March 9 - 13, 2015.

The labs will have adjusted hours on January 19, April 30 and May 1, 2015; the labs will be open from 6:00 am – 5:00 pm


Pearce Hall Labs:

CANAL:  Central Advanced Network Architecture Laboratory – Pearce Hall 101

CANAL is a student staffed laboratory designed to provide a working, hand-on environment where students enrolled in networking, information technology and business classes can practice with and engage the technology they learn about.

Database Lab – Pearce Hall 400

This lab is used for database and software engineering.  The lab is available to the CMU community when classes are not in session.

This lab is used for multimedia and web design.  The lab is available to the CMU community when classes are not in session.

This lab is used for classes requiring a special machine setup and for various department meetings.
