CMU’s Institute for Great Lakes Research brings together scientists from across the College of Science and Technology to study the Great Lakes and their associated ecosystems, through a variety of methods and external collaborations. Committed to using their expertise to explore, evaluate and protect the ecosystems of the largest body of freshwater in the world, the IGLR faculty also provide educational opportunities to the next generation of scientists, policy makers and conservationists.
From fish nurseries to wetlands, bird habitats to microbial communities, IGLR focuses on collaborative projects to build understanding of the complex and critically important ecosystems of the Great Lakes. Potential partners are invited to
contact us to explore potential projects and to learn more about current projects.
