66003 - K.P. Brooks Astronomy Endowment

This endowment honors Kendall P. Brooks, who taught astronomy and physics at CMU from 1910-1947. The endowment provides support for research and teaching activities in astronomy.

6630014 - Charles and Suzanne Vannorsdall Endowed Award

The endowment supports students majoring in physics or astronomy by supporting their travel expenses to conferences, to give presentations or to participate in field trips.

6630043 - David and Diane Current Family Physics Summer Program Endowment

This endowment supports summer research opportunities for undergraduates in the physics department.

66513 - Leon and Frances McDermott Physics Endowment

This endowment was created by former department chair Leon McDermott and his wife, Frances. It provides funds for equipment to support teaching and research in the department.

66585 - Kenneth Wright Physics Scholarship Endowment

This endowment provides funds for a scholarship in honor of Kenneth Wright, who taught physics at CMU for over 30 years. The scholarship is given to a junior or senior with a major in Physics or Chemistry-Physics with an overall GPA of at least 2.5, and a GPA in major/minor courses of at least a 3.0.

66736 - Suzanne Rae & Walter James Bisard Scholarship Endowment

This endowment was created to honor Suzanne Rae Bisard’s dedication to teaching science in the elementary school. Thousands of students and dozens of student teachers and interns from CMU have benefitted from her enthusiasm for science and for the art of teaching. The endowment provides funds for a scholarship for an elementary science education student who is at least at the sophomore level and who has an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

66884 - David H. Current Scholarship Endowment​

Established in 2011 by Diane E. Current and members of the Physics faculty in memory of our late colleague, Professor David H. Current, this endowment provides funds for a scholarship that is given to a full-time junior or senior Physics major with a minimum GPA of 3.0. The student must demonstrate a passion for physics, growth in problem-solving skills, and an interest in experimental physics.

​9100047 - Physics Discretionary Fund

Funds contributed to this account support the general needs of the department. In the past, funds from this account have been used to support the activities of our student group, the Society of Physics Students, and student and faculty conference travel expenses.
