Dear Human Services Colleagues,
Change is upon us in higher
education. The past several years we have all witnessed transformations and
fluctuations that challenge us in how we view and live day to day in the world
of higher education. Our academic roles as faculty and staff are in flux. Last
spring, I invited colleagues from each of your disciplines to examine the
trends that are being projected onto higher education and assess what these
might mean to our collective professions within human services. The taskforce’s
charge has been to envision educational innovation for the professional
entering Human Services in the year 2023.
We as colleagues come together as
a “community” of human services. Our students and graduates all in some manner,
focus on improving the well-being and quality of life of individuals across
diverse contexts and cultures. Many commonalities exist amongst the skills,
abilities, ethics and knowledge that we value in professionals within our
collective disciplines. However, we acknowledge that the future is going to be
different, and that we need to start getting ready for it. How then do we plan
for educating, preparing and training the human services professional of 2023?
The Human Services 2023 Taskforce
invites you to join them for a half day of visioning for the future of our
students and dare to dream and create something that does not exist yet, but
could with your imagination and courage. Please join your colleagues on January
20, from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM to work with other EHS faculty and staff to create
our vision. It will be a day where you interact with colleagues across
disciplines, share values, and forge potential collaborations. Please invest a
little time in this recognized college service opportunity and join in
imagining what our future can be.
Please let us know if you can attend the event. Visit the registration page to register for the event.
