The Literacy Center at CMU represents a dynamic partnership between Central Michigan University and the surrounding central Michigan region.
The objectives of the center are to:
- Support area students and their families by providing instructional services in reading and writing.
- Provide undergraduate teacher candidates and graduate students the opportunity to acquire and hone their skills and knowledge in literacy diagnosis and remediation.
- Support the professional development of CMU teacher candidates and in-service teachers in the community.
- Conduct and disseminate research to the field to inform The Literacy Center and beyond through the Literacy Research Group
The Literacy Center (TLC) is connected to 2 reading courses and serves local students and families through these course offerings as well as educators through regular professional development opportunities.
