The Literacy Center supports literacy and literacy research to educators

The Literacy Center at CMU represents a dynamic partnership between Central Michigan University and the surrounding central Michigan region.

The objectives of the center are to:

  • Support area students and their families by providing instructional services in reading and writing.
  • Provide undergraduate teacher candidates and graduate students the opportunity to acquire and hone their skills and knowledge in literacy diagnosis and remediation.
  • Support the professional development of CMU teacher candidates and in-service teachers in the community.
  • Conduct and disseminate research to the field to inform The Literacy Center and beyond through the Literacy Research Group

The Literacy Center (TLC) is connected to 2 reading courses and serves local students and families through these course offerings as well as educators through regular professional development opportunities.
