Who takes the Online Placement Test for sewing?
Students who plan to major in Fashion Merchandising and Design with a concentration in Fashion Design at Central Michigan University.
What is it?
The Online Placement Test is designed to help you determine which FMD course you should take to begin the Fashion Design concentrations based on the knowledge and skills you already have in apparel construction. The test has 80 questions, including both multiple choice and matching. Each student will be given 45 minutes to finish the test. The Online Placement Test cannot be used to satisfy any course requirement nor can any credits be awarded on the basis of the online test. When to take?
Ideally, you should take the online placement test before coming to Orientation so you will know which apparel construction class to register for within the major. HOW to take? The Online Placement Test is taken through CMU’s learning management system, Blackboard. Your CMU-issued Global ID and password will be required for access. Only admitted students have Global IDs and passwords.
If you have not been admitted to CMU yet, please contact Beth Embrey at
email@example.com to obtain a temporary id and password.
Follow these easy steps to take the test:
If prompted, enter your Global ID and password assigned to you by CMU (each student is assigned a global id and password when they are admitted to the university)**
When you submit your Global ID and password, you will be automatically enrolled in an online class Web site specifically created for this test in Blackboard.
Click the ‘Click Here to being the Sample Examination’ link and click the ‘Begin’ button. The test will appear. You will have 45 minutes to take the exam. Once the allotted time has passed, the test will submit automatically. Unanswered questions will be scored as “incorrect.”
The system will automatically score your exam. To find your score, click on
My Results in the navigation bar on the left hand side of the page.
**A global id and password is available to each student when they are admitted to CMU. If you cannot find this information, please call the CMU Help Desk at 989-774-3662. They will assist you in obtaining this information.
