Leadership Minor

Did you know that one of the top-rated skills sought by employers is leadership? Would you like to be part of a program that helps you develop your leadership skills? The leadership minor might be right for you! The academic minor is an interdisciplinary program housed in the Department of Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services. 

The Leadership minor compliments a variety of academic programs such as health professions, education, communications, business, political science and recreation. The minor provides an academic foundation for students engaged in co-curricular leadership programs. Each year more than 4,000 students are involved across campus with leadership development initiatives and programs. One area for engagement is with the CMU Leadership Institute which is Michigan’s most comprehensive center for leadership development, training and education.

  • Leadership coursework emphasizes service-learning and practical expereinces
  • Finish your program with a field study project in leadership, either on-campus or in the community
  • Further your understanding of leadership theory and how it connects to your personal leadership experiences
  • Become part of the first academic minor in leadership offered by a four-year public university in the state of Michigan.
