MA in Educational Technology (Optional NP - Education Technology Endorsement)
The MA in Educational Technology prepares students to provide instruction utilizing new learning technologies. The technologies addressed in this program include multimedia, telecommunications, and distance learning. The program meets the needs of classroom teachers and also prepares individuals for technology leadership roles.
MA in Elementary Education: Classroom Teaching
The MA in Elementary Education: Classroom Teaching program is designed for teachers and administrators interested in the general study of current research and methodology used at the elementary level. Degree candidates and their advisors design a program of study that examines developments in the knowledge base for teaching reading, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies in the elementary self-contained classroom.
MA in Elementary Education: Early Childhood (Optional ZS - Faculty Childhood Endorsement)
The MA in Elementary Education: Early Childhood endorsement is designed for elementary teachers and administrators interested in specialized study of research and methodology used in teaching the preprimary or primary grades (kindergarten through third grade). The student and his/her advisor will develop a program that includes examination of the developmental characteristics of learners of this age period and the design of curricula to foster learning and growth.
MA in Reading and Literacy K-12
The MA in Reading and Literacy K-12 option prepares students with teaching certificates to specialize in the study of research and methodology in reading from kindergarten through secondary education. The program provides in-depth study of literacy programs, theoretical models and processes of reading and writing, assessment, interdisciplinary processes and strategies in literacy, current literacy issues, and the diagnosis and remediation of reading difficulties. The program includes a six week supervised clinical practicum.
MA in Secondary Education
The MA in Secondary Education is designed for secondary teachers interested in an advanced professional degree. Candidates and their advisors will plan a program of advanced study in the teaching field that includes coursework in high school programs and practices, content area studies, and interdisciplinary teaching strategies.
Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology
The Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology prepares educators and other professionals to effectively utilize new learning technologies as aligned with the Michigan Technology Standards. The technologies addressed in this program include multimedia, handheld devices, distance, and telecommunications in education. Designed to meet the needs of educators and other professionals, this program also prepares individuals for technology leadership roles.
