Professional Education Sequence

Professional Education Sequence
All students who are admitted to CMU's Teacher Education Program follow the prescribed series of classes, known as the Professional Ed Sequence, based on the certification they are seeking. The Professional Ed Sequence is a planned grouping of required EDU professional education courses. It was developed to guarantee seats in professional education courses in the semesters immediately following admission to the Teacher Education Program.

The sequencing of these classes into two-three semesters allows students to meet prerequisites for the classes and to complete the courses in as little time as possible. Initial Professional Ed Sequence registration will begin after students are notified electronically by the Center for Student Services (CSS) of their admission to the Teacher Education Program.

Generally, Professional Ed Sequence classes are not available in the summer although the department does offer study abroad pre-student teaching experiences for Elementary Education students to travel to Oaxaca, Mexico or London, England. The department also offers an experience in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic for Secondary Education students to experience a pre-student teaching placement abroad.
