Immokalee, Florida

The Immokalee student teaching experience takes place during the spring semester.  Students will complete eight weeks of student teaching in a Michigan school and then complete the remainder of their student teaching in Florida.

Excellent Opportunities

This is an excellent opportunity for student teachers to experience teaching in a diverse setting yet still remain in the United States. The mostly Mexican-American student body is very poor. Spanish is the first language of most students, and though many are migrants, they are proud of their schools and very appreciative of receiving a quality education. This experience will provide an excellent foundation for teaching ALL students. It provides the opportunity to engage fully with the community and the various cultures in Immokalee.
